Home Run (pt.2) is the latest single from the self proclaimed vegetarian artist Jamie Clarke — ironically known as “The Man The Myth The Meatslab.” Released on February 12, 2025, the track spans just over three minutes. Featuring Abby Powledge, the song is an expansion upon Clarke’s previous release, Home Run. With its stripped-back instrumentation, the duo creates a sound that feels both raw and fully realized.
Home Run was originally written as a solo performance. However, the lyrics, “Holding my waist, watching my eyes, Look straight back at you,” are obviously directed towards another. It isn’t until Home Run (pt.2) that Clarke gets a response.

Part two introduces the warm and gentle voice of Nashville-based artist Abby Powledge. There’s an obvious chemistry between the two, with both sharing a similarly soothing vocal style. The lyrics are crafted to feel like an intimate exchange between the two, yet avoid the structure of a traditional conversation, weaving in a subtle dialogue. This exchange sows in the lines, “Just like that, My heart stops, Take me back, Take me back.”Each note, lyric, and harmonized passage builds upon the last, culminating in a performance that feels genuine.
The sound is constructed around only a few pieces, with each playing a vital role in cultivating its mellow atmosphere. The track is anchored by a constant static hum that evokes the nostalgic, ambient sound of a vinyl record. The song’s melody lies in Clarke’s acoustic guitar. His delicate strums and fingerpicking serve as a guide for the vocals. Additionally, the quiet, yet high-pitched sound of a whistle can be heard along with humming from the vocalists — the kind of humming people do when they’re walking alone.
Clarke and Powledge’s Home Run (pt.2) is more than the sum of its parts. It’s an example of how thoughtful collaboration can transcend individual components and result in something far more profound.
